An Active Role Model

Maybe Mociute suggested what people should do with their lives, but, instead, I remember her as being a role model of active living in her later years. She never owned a car, but she spent years going downtown to work. Afterward, she would still go downtown to the central library by two buses. She walked not only to the neighborhood church, but even further to buy groceries and carry (or roll) her goods home. Her travels took her summer after summer for extended stays to the Gintaras Resort in Union Pier, Michigan and, for a vacation, she flew to California. In town, she got rides to celebrations. At home, she played Scrabble with family members. Card playing was part of her home, resort and even office work breaks. She stayed active mentally and physically by adding the study and practice of drawing and oil painting after retirement. She was always an avid reader throughout. Custom Search She hated waste and would even recycle paper towels by putting the moist ones on her tea kettle, so they could dry and be reused.
